£4000 donation helps to preserve the legacy of amateur filmmaking in the North East.

George Theaker (Filmmaker), Megan McCooley (Collections Manager), David Parsons (Archive Curator) and Derek Mathieson (NERIAC Regional Secretary).

We would like to say a huge thank you to Derek Mathieson and George Theaker who presented the Archive with a £4320 donation on behalf of the North East Region of the IAC (NERIAC).

The Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC) has been helping filmmakers to grow in their art since 1932, and from the very beginning, Cine Clubs in the North East have been a part of that rich history of amateur filmmaking.

Documentary, comedy, newsreels, animation, and technical experimentations, the films produced by the Cine Clubs and by their individual filmmakers are some of the most significant, and most loved films at the Yorkshire and North East Film Archive.

We are hugely grateful to be the recipient of this generous donation as the NERIAC winds down its formal activity.  In honour of their donation and in tribute to the work of their members and organization, we would like to share with you a selection of films from our IAC collections.  Specially curated collections can be found on our front page.
