A Moving Image Legacy for Bradford:  Engagement and Legacy Officer

Salary £31,250 per annum

We are seeking an Engagement and Legacy Officer for our new project, A Moving Image Legacy for Bradford.

A Moving Image Legacy for Bradford is a new project developed by the Yorkshire Film Archive in response to the shared national challenge focused on collecting contemporary films.  

Bradford’s film history is rich and diverse, troubled and triumphant, proud and celebrated, and much is captured in the vaults of the Yorkshire Film Archive.  When stored in the right conditions, these analogue collections will last for over 130 years, but digital is different.  Cultural memories, stored in strings of binary digits, are at a critical risk of being lost.  

At this pivotal time in moving image history, we will launch a contemporary collecting campaign to continue the film story of Bradford, the UNESCO City of Film and City of Culture in 2025.  

In 2025 Yorkshire Film Archive will create a Moving Image Legacy for Bradford: a visual record of a city, its people, and its UK year of culture which will be preserved for future generations.  

This new post will be central to the success of the A Moving Image Legacy for Bradford project to ensure that the Archive's collection reflects the diversity and richness of the people of Bradford district during its Year of Culture, and that these collections are preserved so they can be seen, shared, debated, and celebrated for generations to come.  

This will be a 12-month fixed-term post, based either in our York or Middlesbrough sites.

Yorkshire Film Archive is a registered charity (no. 1093468) which finds, preserves, and provides public access to moving image made in or about Yorkshire and the North East of England.  This post is made possible with funding from The BFI Screen Heritage Project Fund.
