Title - Litlun to the rescue: Scilly 1960
A young man comes out of his house and adds some final fittings to a small wooden boat he has constructed in his back garden. He adds the name of ‘Litlun’ to the boat and ties it onto the roof rack of the family car (reg. 2584 W). They drive through countryside, filmed from the front of the car, and stop at the coast where he and another young man carry the boat down to the sea. He puts it in the water and paddles off. Also out on the sea, rowing a canoe, are a young woman and Julie. On the shore a group of family members are sat at a table having tea. Peter goes out on the boat with his father, who also does some fancy acrobatics with one of the young men on the sandy beach. They dig a hole in the sand which they get in and cover with an umbrella. They do more boating before taking a boat trip out to Tresco on ‘Golden Spray’, whilst Peter stays behind and falls asleep on the beach.
The rest of the holidaymakers do a tour of the island, looking at the seals, and spending time on the island beach, having fun in the sand and swimming in the sea. They end up forgetting the time and missing the boat back, which left at 3.45. Wondering what to do, they light a fire to make smoke signals. Meanwhile, Peter wakes up and sees the smoke. He gets into Litlun and rows over to the island and rescues the stranded holidaymakers two at a time. They all congratulate him and the film ends.
