This is a film from the Douthwaite Collection of a visit by Doncaster Cine Guild to Fernilee Reservoir, in Derbyshire. They are given a guided walk around the Goyt Valley, and the film also includes footage of flooding in Doncaster.
The film begins showing an invitation letter to visit Fernilee Reservoir with a guided walk and a ‘Guild tour’. Part of the journey by coach, via Sheffield, is filmed. Then a group of people look down from a bridge onto the reservoir and surrounding valley. After visiting the dam, they go off sightseeing around the Goyt Valley, crossing an iron footbridge. They continue on their walk through the countryside, and at the finish Douthwaite poses in front of their coach, Fretwell’s of Doncaster. The group carries on their sightseeing to a town and some well dressings.
The film switches to show torrential rain and buses, a truck and cars driving through flooded roads. An airplane flies overhead and the film comes to an end.
