This is a film that was made into a DVD of the Interlink Cricket Club, a mainly Indian club that was open to all nationalities, formed as part of the Bradford Mutual Sunday School Cricket League. The film provides a story of the club narrated by one of its founding members, Mohan Mistry, the creator of the DVD. The film has footage from a film made in the 1970s (film 5119) and photographs of the team members and their wives taken through the 1970s. It also had interviews with many of those who were in the Club at that time, including Professor Lord Kamlesh Patel and others associated with the club.
The film begins showing Bradford Centenary Square and a welcome by Mohan Mistry. It shows the team playing at their home ground on Spencer Road. The Lord Mayor of Bradford Dale Smith gives a short introduction. Mohan explains the role that Father Keith Potter played at the founding of the club. There are photographs of Woodhead Road playing fields where they played cricket and of the players, giving their names. There is some film of them playing in 1972 (from film 5119), followed by tributes to those who are no longer alive. There are photos of the 1970/71 team and of scorecards, and of the presentations, again with names provided.
The film runs through the years 1974 to 1977 with photographs of the players and their wives at their annual dinners at various restaurants, including the Royal Bengal Restaurant. There are also photos of the wedding of Vallabh Patel and Aruna Patel at Bolton Town Hall in 1973. In between these, there are interviews with old players, including former member Professor Lord Kamlesh Patel, and with David Pipe of the Bradford Mutual Sunday School Cricket League, who tells the story of how they found an umpire, the son of a local headteacher. There is also more footage of the cricketing of the 1970s and of the members eating in the Sheesh Mahal Restaurant on Great Hatton Road.
There is mention of the connection with the Interlink Youth Club and the Indian Cricket Club, and Mohan playfully challenges them to a match which they accept. The credits show more photos of old members and of their reunion at the Bharat Club in February 2012. This is followed by some humorous outtakes and a quiz done in the style of the BBC’s A Question of Sport. Lastly, there is a roll call of all who were members of the club in the 1970s noting where they now live.
