This is a film with three parts: the presentation of the Freedom of Halifax to the Mayor of Nova Scotia, A look at some industries in Halifax, and an exhibition of British products in a new shopping centre which is opened by the Mayor. The film begins showing the Coat of Arms on the floor of the Victoria Room in the Town Hall, Halifax.  The Mayor and Mayoress (Ludlam) arrive and make their way to the Parlour.  The film switches to show women at work on looms on the factory floor, the Elizabeth Shed, of John Crossley's (carpets) and at the MackIntosh works.  There is a shot of the parish church before returning to witness the presentation ceremony. There is a gap before the film returns to show various British products, such as motor cars, on display at an exhibition in a new shopping centre.
