This is a promotional film which shows men and women workers operating the entire process of making blankets, from raw materials to the finished products being packed into boxes.
The film begins with old wool being processed through a machine and fed into tanks of water where it is disentangled into strands by steel spikes. It is then fed into a dryer. Then two workmen load it from carts into a large round metallic tub where it is boiled in water, possibly scouring or bleaching, and emerges as a large mass. After this a woman loads the wool, now all completely white, into another machine which breaks the wool up into fine threads on rotating spindles. At the other end of the machine a woman helps to bind the threads onto another spindle. These are then placed onto another machine operated by two men, which spins the wool threads onto small spools. These spools are then collected and put into a basket. They are then placed onto another machine which winds the threads onto a large roll.
Then, in another room, women operate a machine that weaves the threads into large rolls of brown striped cloth. In another room long rolls of white cloth are put through another machine which rolls it through a chemical liquid, presumably a dye, emerging blue at the other end. It is then fed into large spinning machines to extract the liquid before being fed onto another machine. Elsewhere a man oversees a conveyer machine which is passing a white blanket cloth with blue stripes. In other workplaces men are preparing wooden baubles. The blanket material is then sewn around the edges, with edging added, by women in a sewing room. The blankets are then hand folded and wrapped in cellophane by women before being packaged up.
