This is three films made by Edward Warburton that have been put together: a Safari Park (c.1969); a game of knurr and Spell (c.1963); Blackpool, waves and illuminations (c.1963).
The film begins in a safari park, filming the animals – including cheetahs, lions, zebras, elephants and giraffes – as they drive through.
The second film begins with a man fixing his knurr holder in the ground, and as he does so, he is watched by a crowd. The knurr is attached to a piece of string, hanging down, and the man hits it with a spell. Another man has a go, at one time missing the knurr. Another man has a spring loaded trap for the knurr, missing it on several attempts before hitting it, and showing his delight when he does so.
The third film begins with the decorations lining the road at Blackpool’s seafront, followed by waves crashing against the sea walls. Then the film switches to night time, showing the illuminations in all their glory, including floats advertising ABC Weekend Television, and finishing with one advertising ‘Go Well, Go Shell’.
