Title – Jack Johnson Presents Volume Four of his series The Enchanting North
The film begins with Morris dancers, with flowers in their hats, dancing in Ilkley town centre. People watch the dancers from the side, including five Afro-Caribbean cubs. The film switches to Harrogate where they look in at Farrah’s Toffee Shop and around the shops and open spaces. A brass band plays in the bandstand of a park. They look at the Royal Baths and again they film people wandering around the shops.
The film moves on to Knaresborough, where they look down onto the bridge and boats on the river. This is followed by footage of the High Street in Skipton, where they are looking around the shops before heading to the canal for the boat festival. A man is pulled from out of the water. One boat is decorated for the 25th anniversary. They then take a tour of the town, including the Castle.
Next they visit Lancaster, again doing a tour of the town, before moving on to Morecombe, packed with sailing boats. They take a ferry across to the Isle of Man, where they go off to explore. On their return they film the many small boats on the coast before taking a coach across the Lake District, filming the surrounding landscape. The film ends back at Morecombe with the night time illuminations.
