This is a film from a collection of home movies made by Jack Johnson of Pontefract. It shows a family trip around Britain which includes the Malvern Hills, Warwick Castle, Blenhein Palace and Empingham.
The film begins with a group of children who make their way to the top of the Malvern Hills. They wander around Malvern town, and one of the boys wears a red top. Then they are back on the top of the hill. Later, they head to Worcester where boats can be seen on the river. They visit the cathedral and the town before going on to Warwick Castle. At Blenhein Palace, they have a picnic down by the river, and after the picnic, take a boat trip along the river.
The film switches to Empingham, showing thatched houses, and a sign proclaiming it “Rutland’s tidiest village”. They drive on and stop to have a drink at a pub, The Cross Inn. There is a small girl with an ice cream. They go for a walk along a stream and arrive at Wentbridge reservoir. Here, boats are sailing on the water, and boys on trial bikes ride along Went Hill. A group of cyclists pass the corner café. The film ends with views of the surrounding countryside and village.
