This is a film made by Leeds amateur filmmaker Alan Sidi, showing a typical family Christmas in the Sidi household.  This one shows the family at their home in Leeds, Val D’or, when Alan was still a teenager. The film begins showing a 78 gramophone record being played. Title – “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” The record is taken off the player by a teenage girl, possibly Alan Sidi’s sister, and she looks out on a frosty day.  The film switches to a children’s Santa grove, showing the toys on display, such as a peddle car, teddy bears and dolls.  Back home Alan’s mother is making mince pies.  Alan’s sister who is carrying presents arrives home, filmed in black and white, and opens the door to see a Christmas tree and decorations in colour.  She too is now in colour.  She places her presents under the tree.  The turkey is carved and the pudding lit, and Mr Sidi Snr. raises a glass before lighting a cigar and relaxing.  Then the whole family are in the living room in, dressed in their party hats and masks, joining hands and singing.
