The film begins showing small boats on a stretch of water, possibly in the Lakes District, with two large leisure boats crossing each other. As the sun goes down, the passengers disembark from one of the leisure boats. An elderly man walks along the water’s edge with a Labrador. They pass a Scottish Tourist Board road sign, “Welcome to Scotland.”
Title – River Nith at Dumfries.
Again the elderly man walks by the river, where there are lots of swans. The man poses for the camera in front of the family Robin Reliant. Using a camping stove he makes a stew.
Title – Prestwick Airport
Several large and small airplanes are shown landing and taking off.
Title – Round and About the Clyde
The elderly man sits on the shore looking out at a boat passing along the Clyde. A car ferry lands and two men go out on a sailing boat, which capsizes in the wind as they try to get it into the water. A passenger train passes, and various ships and tugs are seen on the Clyde. They take the car ferry over to the other side, filming some seagulls up close. Many small boats are anchored in a quiet part of the river.
Title – The Forth Road Bridge
There is a placard marking the Queen’s first crossing the bridge in September 1964. Both the Forth road bridge and the railway bridge are shown. Cars go through the toll booths. The elderly man stands by the plaque for the opening of the bridge posing for the camera.
Title – Edinburgh
There is a view over the city from up on the Calton Hill, looking down on Princess Street. The elderly man points over towards a long railway viaduct. A small boat arrives in a harbour, and one of the crew shows off a fish he has caught. They then watch an air display, with RAF aircraft and the film ends.
