A window opens up to reveal Beverley Minster in the distance. A marching military band is passing through along North Bar Within, followed by troops with bayonets fixed to their rifles. In the Saturday Market crowds have gathered around a spitfire and a shot down Messerschmitt fighter plane, and another RAF aircraft. The Mayor ascends a ladder up to the fund target board, with a large crowd watching. The target board has a representation of bombers flying from Beverley over to Berlin. With some military officers watching, the bombers are hoisted up so that they appear over Berlin.
Many uniformed groups assemble in the Square, including the Scouts, Girl Guides and nurses. The Mayor and other local dignitaries stand to one side to watch as the procession marches past, representing all the different forces and home front services. There are close ups of the adults and children watching from behind ropes. Then the Mayor, the Bishop, and other local dignitaries follow them as they enter the Minster, and then lead as they exit the Minster again, followed by the scouts and the girl guides. A large group of air raid wardens then march past the Minster, followed by the Boys Brigade and members of other emergency services.
