The film begins with a hand turning pages, on which is printed a poem entitled “Serving Only Beauty”. The first verse reads “If mine own kingdom I could make / T’would be of leaf, and flower, and lake / Where daffodil and chestnut spread / And rocky crag rides high o-er head”.
The poem continues, describing a natural idyll, and concluding “And only God has right to give / such joys as in my kingdom live…the one that serveth beauty”.

The bough of a tree covered in green leaves trembles in the breeze, and various flowers and blossoms are seen. Boys moor a boat to a jetty on a tranquil lake.

Daffodils pepper the garden around a simple whitewashed church building, and various saplings are seen close up. The rocky crag of a mountain has buildings clustered on top.

A shepherd and his dog drive a herd of woolly brown sheep up a countryside road. A single white house sits on the banks of a lake, and crystal clear water flows over the rocky lakebed.

A woman walks a dog along the banks of a river shaded by woodland on either side. The river is seen from high up, with a large hill in the background. Children in bathing suits play in a wider river and people row boats. A steamship goes past in the shadow of a mountain.
Title – My hills with fleecy cloud I’d crown / Each dale with corn and fruit begown
Two women sit on the slopes of a hill, and the trees and wildlife of the valley are seen. A man with horse-drawn farming machinery harvests wheat from a field. The sheaves are then seen lined up in rows in the field. Men remove them from a horse-drawn cart into a barn. Apple trees sag with ripe fruit.

On an outcrop of rock, a man with a dog looks over a lake with a simple white building on an island near the shore. A waterfall runs down a mountainside surrounded by ferns.
Title – Where bird and bee and insect life
A man parts a patch of grass to reveal a tiny bird’s nest containing an egg. He holds a small chick in each hand.
Birds fly to and from a fence post covered with breadcrumbs. Bees pollinate flower heads, a large spider’s web clings to a rose bush, an ant crawls on a person’s arm, and a snail crawls across a rock. A toad crawls down a riverbank into the water.

Two stone crosses are seen along with the ruins of a church building. Deer graze in a park and a stag roams about. A red squirrel hops about in the grass. The film closes with autumnal trees and a bridge over a small brook.
