This is a film that gives an extensive tour of the City of Hull.  The film includes many of the better known, and also the less well-known, places and attractions the city has to offer.  It also includes some film of a Hull City football match and Hull Fair. The film starts showing a sign for the City and Council of Hull, and then a street sing for “High Street.”  The film goes onto tour of the old quarters of Hull, including Wilberforce House and Maister House.  A number of streets and shops are shown, many of which are derelict.  Blanket Row is shown as well as places around the city centre including Holy Trinity Church and the King William statue.  The film moves to an outdoor market, with lots of stalls, selling many types of things and stall holders demonstrating some of the wares.  A lorry rolls up with crates of Coca Cola.  The film moves on to the old Grammar school, the Black Boy pub, and shows signs for other pubs and streets: the “Malt and Shovel”, the Punch Hotel, the Bay Horse, the Blue Bell, the Land of Green Ginger, the George Hotel, Rowle Lane, Manor Street, Myton Gate, shops, areas of bombed damaged buildings, Wincolmlee and Charter House Lane. There is a train being pulled by a steam locomotive followed by footage of Hessle Road with a trolley bus.  This is followed by footage of Bond Street and then De La Pole Avenue. There are brief scenes shot at Piccadilly Circus, London, lit up with neon advertisements at night, including one for ‘Coke’ and ‘Players.’  There is a hoarding for the film ‘The Yellow Rolls Royce’, playing at the Empire Theatre (Leicester Square), and for Come Dancing at the Mecca, with Ken Mackintosh. The film switches to boats in the harbour, possibly now where Hull marina is, and out at sea.  A ferry corsses the Humber, and there are shots of the docks near the city centre, with the boat “Crowville.”   It switches again to an outdoor event with trapeze artists and wrestling.  Then Billy Smart’s Circus parades through the city, with caged animals and characters dressed as American Indians.  There is then some footage of a match between Hull City and a team wearing claret and blue.  This is followed by a banner for the Hull Show of 1964, with a cattle competition and fishing. Next on to Queen’s Gardens, with people near the fountain and children playing by the pond.  The film switches again to Hull Fair in the evening, showing some of the rides and stalls, including those for darts and attempting to pick up ducks from water.  Then there is a view across Hull, Barnsley Railway Bridge and several other places around and about Hull before the film finishes.
