Title – Brownie Pack Holiday 1974
Brownies are travelling on a coach, passing Stockton-on-the-Forest. On arrival at Snowball Plantation, they carry their kit into a dormitory. A helper prepares a fry-up for breakfast while the Brownies butter bread, and then everyone seems to be helping as they sit down for breakfast. The Brownies, wearing yellow shirts, do the washing up.
Outside they stand in a circle as they raise the Union Jack flag. They are given instruction before they go off into the woods in pairs. Some learn how to fold a flag and attach it to the flag pole. Inside others sit around a table doing craftwork and identifying plants that they have collected using a book. Sweets are bought from a tuck shop in boxes. They do some skipping and play team games involving a ball. They also play a game which involves teams moving a cup of water along a piece of string, after filling the cup with water before using it to fill a bucket, which they have to repeat a number of times, with the scores marked on a blackboard. This is followed by another game in which they holding each other blindfolded, and follow a piece of string.
Their next activity is action songs sitting around the living quarters, all with blankets wrapped around them, which involves making hand gestures, possibly to music. A group of adults walk arrive for visitors’ day, and a group of the Brownies pose for the camera. At the end of the day the visitors, including parents, get into a coach and are waved off by the Brownies.
