The film opens with a group of elderly people seated outside on chairs and benches. Many of the women wear hats, and some wear sunglasses. There is a brief shot of a train passing over a bridge before more footage of the men and women enjoying their time outside in the sun. After some greetings, the group make their way into town. The next part of the film features a parade in Great Ayton which is made up of floats, people in fancy dress, and marching bands. Crowds of spectators line the streets. After the procession, the crowds gather on the village green to take a closer look at some of the floats and visit the various stalls which have been set up for the event. The film closes with a "mock wedding" at a retirement home. There is a man dressed in drag as a busty blonde woman in a satin gown. He stands at the front of a room with the groom and minister. A reception with dinner and dancing follows.
