A brochure advertises the launch. A special train waits at a platform in Kings Cross station in London. In the windows of the carriages is a printed note saying "Gulf Launching Party". VIP passengers board the train. The train pulls out of the station. On the train, passengers dine and chat. Views of the passing scenery from the train.
The train pulls into Haverton Hill Station. The passengers board a waiting bus. The bus travels to the Furness Shipbuilding Company shipyards. Low angle shots of the bow of a ship follow. A number of dignitaries arrive and make their way to the launch platform. Local people watch from the yards.

Workers smash away the blocks beneath the ship. A woman (P. W. Segers) attempts to launch the ship with a champagne bottle, which will not break. Mrs Segers and another man jokily push the bow of the ship. The tanker slips into the River Tees. There are various shots of the VIPs and crowd watching the launch. Mrs Segers poses for photographs with two shipyard workers in front of sign. She leaves by car after the launch.

The "Belgulf Glory" is towed into dock and moored by a group of men. Various men leave the ship down a gangway. The film ends with several views of the rear of the ship.
