A home movie produced by Stanley Smith, one member of famous the vocal group ‘The Five Smith Brothers’, featuring his wife Molly and daughters Linda and Lorraine as well as his brothers Alfred, Harold, Martin, and Royston with their wives and children. The film begins with the family attending the christening of brother Royston’s son followed by the extended family enjoying the beach at possibly at Great Yarmouth where the brothers are performing the summer season in a nearby theatre.
Linda Smith stands in the doorway of the family home changes to her, and her sister Lorraine being carried out of a church by her father Stan. Other members of the Smith family come out of the church and stand around chatting. Two men get into a car parked nearby.
More people come out of the church including a woman carrying a baby and a younger man accompanying an older woman. The baby’s mother holds the crying child, the man and woman seen previously stand around her. Two boys, the younger in a school uniform, poses with the woman and baby.
Royston Smith holds his two daughters Linda and Debbie; nearby Linda and Lorraine stand beside their parents. The boy in the school uniform holds Linda’s hand. Another man holding a small girl comes out of the church with another woman also holding a baby.
At a seaside resort, possibly Great Yarmouth, the entire front of a theatre entrance is covered in advertising for the ‘Five Smith Brothers’ who are performing there. On a cricket pitch Linda and her mother Molly walk hand in hand, Stan smith speaks with Linda. While a cricket match takes place on the pitch Linda and a boy play together nearby.
Linda appears again in the doorway of the house wearing a different outfit, her mother Molly appears behind her brushing her hair changing to her holding Linda in her arms as she waves at a man taking their photograph. The couple walk along the short path of the terraced house, a second woman appears at an upstairs window and sticks her tongue out at the camera. In the front garden Molly plays with a Scotty dog watched by Linda.
Beside a swimming pool Molly and another woman sit on a bench beside a teenage boy. A baby sits on the other woman’s knee, Linda and Lorraine sit with Molly drinking juice and milk from bottles. The girls stick their tongues out at the camera, followed by the women and teenager. One of the girls in red shorts and bonnet stands and wonders around, Molly checking her bonnet. Two other women now sit on the bench.
In a park beside a shaded seating area a young man leads a pony around a grass area on which sits Linda. She rides the pony around a lawned area by herself after which her sister Lorraine joins her on the pony. Linda leads the pony containing Lorraine around the lawn changing to Lorraine leading Linda. The two girls ride a miniature horse-and-trap decorated with flowers.
On the beach Molly and a second woman watch over Linda and Lorraine as they dig holes in the sand, a man stands over them writing notes in a book. The man is joined by a second man, they play with the girls in the sand.
Linda stands eating an ice cream cone poses with a female ice cream vendor, back on the beach her sister Lorraine eats her ice cream from a tub. Around them other children in the family eat their ice creams happily while playing in the sand.
In the sand Linda and Lorraine climb onto the back of their father laying in the sand. He gets up and crawls across the sand with his daughters on his back. In the sea a Molly and Stan play with their daughters as they kick their legs learning to swim.
Linda once again poses for the camera in the doorway of a house wearing what appears to be a traditional Dutch dress and bonnet. It is red and has swans around the edges. In a park seen previously Linda, still wearing the outfit, rides another pony, nearby the theatre with ‘Five Smith Brothers’ posters painted on the front.
