Many surviving engines from the steam era converge at Shildon in County Durham for a celebration of an enduring form of transport thanks to important innovations developed in the north east of England. The first engine seen in the film is surrounded by enthusiasts, is no. 4767 a Black Stanier 4-6-0 a preserved engine at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and named George Stephenson. It crosses a level crossing at Shildon. The next engine in the 'parade' is engine 2238 a Q6 Raven 0-8-0. Getting evermore surrounded by spectators engine no. 2392 a J27 Worsdell 0-6-0 makes its way very slowly through the crowds. The next engine to come across the level crossing is engine no. 2005 a K1 Gresley (Peppercorn) 2-6-0. Next a small personnel carrier vehicle travelling along the railway with workers in high visibility jackets on board. A view taken a field near to the railway shows engine no. 246a D49/1 Gresley 4-4-0 named Morayshire  travels left to right on a high embankment. Behind it is a small tank engine pulling passenger coaches. The film ends with a cut to a shot of a man in shirt sleeves holding a camera [Chris Lawson?].
