A home movie showing a family trip into the countryside of northern County Durham on the border with Northumberland. The film also feature a budgerigar, a family pet.
The film opens on two people standing next to a parked motor cycle.
In open countryside two people sit in a clearing amongst heather moorland, a man walks towards the camera. A general view shows open moorland.
The camera picks out the roof of a house built in a hollow in the landscape, general views follow showing fields and moorland. A meandering river or stream can be seen in the middle distance.
The film cuts to a budgerigar in a cage. Out of its cage it plays on a see saw set up for it on a table, it then plays with a little silver bell which is next to the see saw.
The film changes to show a man standing next to a black Ford Prefect car. The doors of the car are open as he walks towards a small picnic chair which is nearby. A view follows showing the road next to where the car is parked and fields and trees in the middle distance. General views of heather moorland follow.
A black car driving up a hill towards the camera and travels past following the moorland road into the distance. Two women walk along the road towards the camera. Another view of the black car seen earlier (Reg. ACN 981) as it approaches the camera on a flat moorland road. The film cuts to show it driving past down a hill heading towards an expanse of fields and moorland.
General views of moorland, a village with stone houses, possibly Blanchland, and a bridge over a river. A large cylindrical steel pillars supporting the bridge washed by fast flowing waters.
The film ends with a view across a river showing people walking along the opposite bank.
