Home movie footage filmed by J. Donaldson of Stockton-on-Tees of a family trip to the beach at Seaburn near Sunderland. Includes footage of amusement park rides, possibly at Seaburn’s Ocean Beach Park.  A man carries a small child on his shoulders at the beach in Seaburn. Three generations of women in the Donaldson family walk arm-in-arm along the beach. One of the women tries to jump onto the back of one of the other women as a joke. One removes her shoes and goes paddling in the sea, splashing about in the water. The group turn and head back onto the sand and joke around with each other.  A woman in a bathing costume dances for the camera. The child takes a pony ride at the beach, helped by one of the men in the family. [Camera flare] General shots of various rides at a fairground, possibly Seaburn’s Ocean Beach Park. Two teenage lads (one with a jacket studded with the name John on the back) enjoy time on one of the rides. Two children play on a swing boat and a woman with a young child ride a mini waltzer. Travelling shot following and then overtaking a Reliant Regal. An animated title follows in which the letters appear on a coloured background, which catches fire. Title: A Day at the Seaside A woman’s hand appears and wipes down the title card. The film ends with a man coming out of a gate of a house into a back alley and getting into a car.
