A home movie made by the Neesham family of Redcar that begins with a young family at home enjoying a day in the garden. The remainder of the film shows a coach trip through Europe taking in the cities of Vienna, Venice, Pisa and Paris as well as some of the surrounding countryside. The film opens showing a woman sitting on a sofa feeding a baby from a bottle. At her knees sits a young girl. The film changes to show a woman drinking a cup of tea and smiling at the camera.
The film cuts to a suburban street where a man sits on a motorcycle parked outside a terraced house. Sitting on the back of the bike is the baby, other members of the family stand nearby looking at them.
Along a pavement outside the front of the house, a boy drives a red pedal car. Nearby sitting on the front lawn, two young girls play with their dolls. The baby crawls in the grass followed by a view of a man and woman helping the child stand with the help of a walker. An older couple stand in a shaded gateway, general views show the family playing with the baby on the lawn.
A brief view of two girls crossing a busy road is followed by that of a driver at the wheel of a bus driving along a road beside a railway line and river. The film cuts to show a man with a film camera recording a paddle steamer and other vessels traveling along the River Danube.
[Pink] A view of a goat with large horns in a cage is followed by general views from a coach travelling along a busy motorway overtaking a number of other vehicles. The film includes views of the surrounding landscape including a number of large bridges.
The film cuts to show a large ornate garden and a man using a hose to water the flowerbeds. General views show tourists walking around a large building at the top of a set of steep steps. A man with glasses walks through a large set of metal gates.
General views show the road from the bus crossing a river into a city, possibly Vienna, past a number of high rise apartment buildings. The film cuts to a view looking down onto the city below.
A man and woman walk through a crowd followed by views from a vehicle driving through a street. Back on the coach the passengers enjoy the views as it travels across a bridge. The film cuts to a woman crossing a different bridge with a city landscape in the background.
General views show the coach travelling along narrow, twisty mountain roads. A group of travellers enjoy ice creams on tables outside a café near the road. General views show an alpine hotel with a large advertising sign outside that reads ‘Gasthof’. A couple walk around a market looking at various stalls.
The film cuts to show river traffic along the Grand Canal in Venice. On the Piazza San Marco a small child chases pigeons as crowds of tourists walk past. A man watches as an artist paints a scene on a canvas resting on an easel. General views show gondolas traveling past of the water.
The coach drives onto a ferryboat followed by views from the vessel as it travels along the Grand Canal past the Piazza San Marco showing many ornate stone buildings along the riverbank. A man on the boat photographs the scene while others sit nearby chatting.
Back on the road a view from the coach travelling along a modern motorway cuts to views passing the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The film cuts to show a road travelling through a mountainous and wooded landscape. From an elevated position a view shows a café, the ‘Pippo Cella’below.
The film cuts to show a large building or palace followed by a busy Paris street looking down from a window onto the traffic and pedestrian travels past below. A coach is parked outside a large building with a red and white awning, a large sign reads ‘Rotisserie Normandie’.
A general view follows of the Paris skyline with the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Views from the coach as it travels along one of the city’s main boulevards are followed by those of visitors and tourists walking around the base of the Eiffel Tower. The film cuts to the viewing platform on the tower showing views across Paris and the river Seine.
A brief view of people walking through a wooded area changes to show two aircraft parked on the runway of an airport. General views show a number of small and large aircraft taking off. The film ends with views from the aircraft of the landscape below.
