Decorated vehicles carrying beauty pageant contestants arrive on North Bridge Street after crossing the Monkwearmouth Bridge in Sunderland. General views of rows of deck chairs along a sea front promenade.

The Miss Queen of Durham pageant follows, along with what appear to be displays celebrating the Queen's Coronation. Girls dressed in blue dresses congregate on a podium. A number of decorated floats go past, each celebrating a representative from Durham towns and villages including Miss Sunderland, Miss Felling, Miss Hetton and Miss Brandon and Byshottles.
Contestants stand in a row while announcements are made from a sea front bandstand.

The Queen of Durham waves to the camera as she is kissed by two sailors either side.

On a stage near a bandstand, beauty contestants sit in a row holding their numbered cards. They parade across the stage wearing frocks, twirl and pause for the spectators and judges before walking off. The Mayor awards flowers and other prizes to the participants. The Queen of Durham poses again for the camera.
A marching band makes it's way down a street followed by horse drawn floats and children in fancy dress. Children pose for the camera in fancy dress with a royal theme. A girl poses for the camera wearing a sash which reads 'Miss Brancepeth'.
