In the village of Seahouses a family group walks along a concrete jetty towards a number of fishing boats that are moored in the harbour below. The group climbs down a metal ladder onto one of these boats which then heads out to sea. A young boy sits at the stern holding the tiller, a fisherman sits next to him chatting.

In the village of Seahouses a family group walks along a concrete jetty towards a number of fishing boats that are moored in the harbour below. The group climbs down a metal ladder onto one of these boats which then heads out to sea. A young boy sits at the stern holding the tiller, a fisherman sits next to him chatting.
Fingers points at seals resting on the rocks as they approach the Farne Islands, some of the seals slip into the water. In the near distance is the Longstone Lighthouse on Longstone Rock, around the boats more seals swim in the sea near to the boat or resting on the rocky outcrops. Another fishing boat carrying visitors passes in the opposite direction.
The boat approaches Longstone Rock, a man stand nearby and a colony of puffins resting on the rocks. A man climbs from the boat to the rocky shoreline slipping as he does.
Colonies of sea birds including shags, kittiwakes, and guillemots nest in the rocky cliffs, two eggs in one nest and a chick in another. Puffins also nest in the area.
At sea again they pass an inshore fishing boat that is check their crab pots. A second visitor boat travels alongside as they pass another island.
The boat approaches Brownstone Island with its cottage and beacon. A man uses a long hook to hold the boat in places as the passenger disembark. The group walk around the island looking at the various nesting sea birds in the surrounding cliffs. An egg sits between a rocky outcrop, guillemots rest on a rocky outcrop nearby.
The film ends back on the boat the passing the Inner Farne Lighthouse on the cliffs above, a man sitting at the tiller in control of the boat.
