This is a film of a Battalion of the York & Lancaster Regiment returning to Sheffield and marching through the city to where they are stationed.
The film begins with the Battalion – possibly either the 4th Hallamshire or the 12th Sheffield – parading outside Sheffield Victoria Railway Station. Headed by a marching band, and watched by a crowd outside, they assemble in front of a large advertising hoarding for Windsor Ales and Stouts. The soldiers line up and present arms before marching off behind the band, away from the station past Norfolk Hall and the Gaumont Cinema at Barkers Pool, and on towards Crosspool. Traffic can be seen passing by. They arrive at an open space where they parade, and the film finishes with people grouped around a large building.
