A home movie produced by Donald Oates of a family holiday to the coastal town of Salou in the province of Tarragona in north-eastern Spain where the family owned a holiday home. The film begins with cars being loaded onto the ferry to Bilbao followed by the drive to Salou. The remainder of the film shows the family and friends relaxing on the beach or swimming in the Mediterranean Sea where the family try water-skiing. At a ferry terminal cars drive slowly onto the ship ‘Patricia’. At Bilbao, the cars drive slowly of the vessel. A phantom car ride through the Spanish countryside moving from lush greenery to desert scrub arriving at the coast at Cabo Salou. People swim and play in the blue waters, a motorboat is moored in the nearby. On the beach a couple walk towards camera passing other sunbathing on the sand or paddling in the surf. Children and adults play about in the sea, one boy has a small inflatable dinghy. At a road junction along a boulevard cars wait to turn. On the beach again a man dry’s himself with a beach towel, a woman rests against a rock. Two boys are also wrapped in beach towels. Three women stand in the shade of a building chatting, two of the women walk away. At a busy road junction, a policeman stands in the highway directing traffic. Crowds walk along a pedestrian boulevard and at a café a family enjoy cold drinks of beer and Coca-Cola. Two couples relax together laying on the sand, one sits on a beach lounger. A teenage girl comes over and sits beside them. Nearby a teenage boy sitting on the sand. The women chat happily amongst themselves. A man and boy come out of the sea, another boy swims onto the beach. Two boys take turns water skiing followed by their parents. A man smokes a cigarette on the beach, a woman in a white bikini walks away. Around an outdoor table in the shade a group of adults sit, around a second table nearby their children. A man pours himself a drink. On the beach again a group of women sit around chatting, children play in the sand nearby. An older boy walks in the sand nearby and the film ends with a man drying himself with a towel.
