A short industrial film produced by the Newton Aycliffe based UMM Greenside of tests being carried out on a new mine personnel transportation locomotive known as ‘Manrider’ at Blairhill Colliery near Fife in Scotland. A sign for NCB [National Coal Board] Blairhall Colliery Alloa Area is followed by a large hill or slagheap on the horizon. A cable railway track has been built along the hillside seen previously on which sits a white mine personnel transport locomotive. General views of both the track as well as the carriage. The carriage is pulled up the hillside slowly and then lowered back down towards a colliery building. The test is repeated, a man jumps across the carriage as it moves. Three men stand watching nearby, a fifth man walk up the hillside. The film ends on more views of the carriage and it being tested again.
