At Edinburgh Zoo a lion stares out at the camera from behind the bars of his enclosure. A small boy feeds a goat through a wire fence followed by a family coming out of the ‘Ape House’. A macaque sits in the doorway of its cage.
Several men and boys stand in the driveway of a suburban home looking over a number of motorcycles. One man climbs aboard and drives up and down the street. He and another man adjust the engine.
An accidental effect follows showing a polar bear in its enclosure superimposed over a young man riding along a road on a motorbike with an ‘L’ plate.
Various views of animals in their cages at a zoo is superimposed over than of a wedding taking place at St John’s Parish Church in Killingworth with the bride and groom walking along a churchyard path. The wedding party poses for the camera. A boy and younger child stand beside a kiosk at the zoo, the boy eating a packet of crisps and more animals in their enclosure superimposed over the bride and groom making their way to the wedding car and confetti being thrown over them.
A couple walks along the beach at Beadnell with a young boy, they splash around in the surf. The boy swims in the sea followed by the man who walks out into the sea and begins to swim. They both splash about happily. Back on the beach, the woman helps to dry the boy with a towel.
In a field beside several caravans the man and boy play cricket, the boy puts his head into a hole in the ground. The woman kneels on the ground tying something.
Onboard a boat heading towards the Farne Islands a man and two women chat happily, three boys sit nearby. The heads of seals pop out of the sea looking at the boat as it passes. On one of the islands, the group look on a bird’s nest on the ground in front of them and another nesting in the cliffs. A group stands beside a wall chatting.
Several jockeys on horseback are led slowly around the paddock at Newcastle Racecourse, Gosforth Park in the city watched by crowds in the stands. A family group walks across the paddock. On the track, a race is underway with horses and jockeys speeding past. Crowds of spectators stand around the various bookmaker stands. A man looks through a set of binoculars on riders racing around the far side of the track. Back in the paddock riders dismount watched on by spectators behind a barrier before walking out onto the course.
A horse and rider leap a number of fences at a show jumping event, one fence is knocked down. A small boy strokes the mane a white horse, the rider stands beside it.
Back on the beach at Beadnell, a family practices their golf swings, a woman and man swing at balls in the sand. Two young girls walk over to the group followed by one of them sitting and splashing around in the surf.
The garden of a large house changes to show the family enjoying a picnic. A woman pours a cup of tea from a teapot, sandwiches are eaten. A man relaxes in the shade changes to a wooden sign that reads ‘To the Bathing House’. The family walks across a field passing other groups, rainclouds gather over distant hills. The family walks along a path or country road followed by a boy diving into a lake from a jetty. Two other boys join him sitting along the jetty.
Using the mirror on a motorbike a man shaves himself. A pigeon comes over and pecks at food crumbs on the ground, a woman shoos it away. With friends, the family plays a game of cricket beside their cars. Women wash themselves using bowls of water and soap set up on a stone wall. A man and boy ride past on a motorcycle. The film ends with the group watching as the bike is ridden along a country road with different people sitting on the back.
