A notice from the Worth Valley Railway Preservation Society announces that a 'special train' will run between Bradford and Oxenthorpe on 23rd June. The front of the loco of the 'Worth Valley Special' is shown (43586). The engine backs onto a train and makes its way out of Bradford, with lots of railway enthusiasts hanging out the windows of the carriages. It passes through Ingrow West with spectators on the platform. The journey is filmed from the footplate. A crossing keeper opens some crossing gates as the train arrives at Oakworth. Here the many passengers disembark. The surrounding countryside is seen and then the train sets off again, watched by crowds on the platform. The train is shown from a distance emerging from a Mytholmes Tunnel with Ebor Mill in the foreground.
The train arrives at Haworth where a table is set on the station platform. Again the surrounding countryside is shown, with Haworth Parish Church in the distance. There is a sign listing 'places of interest', followed by a sign for the Bronte Parsonage and Museum. Haworth and the surrounding countryside is seen from the Parsonage, followed by some people walking along the Main Street in Haworth leading up to the Parsonage.
Passengers get off the train and on to the track as it stands outside Oxenhope Station. The Mayor and other dignitaries pose for the cameras. The train is filmed from above on a hill moving off from the station, and then as it comes through the valley. Bunting is being put up on Oxenhope station, where a group of boys watch. The station platform and railway lines are becoming overgrown. The train arrives watched by railway enthusiasts. A railway worker uncouples the engine, disconnects the vacuum brake pipe and puts a lamp onto the front of the locomotive. The station car park and surrounding area is shown. The train sets off again for the return journey. At the next station passengers get off and on.
The next part of the journey is filmed from the rear of the train, showing passengers leaning out of the windows. It arrives at Mytholmes Tunnel. As it passes a signal box a token for the single track is handed back to the signalman.
