This is a compilation of commercial films put together on two reels. The first reel begins with a Pathé film, ‘Old Crocks and Crazy Bikes’ (1950), followed by ‘Spills and Thrills’ (1942), made by Castle Films, and finally other home movies made by Walton Films: ‘100 m.p.h. through the London Streets!’ and ‘700 m.p.h. journey by Train’ (1954). The second reel is of early silent comedies by Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, put together by Mountain Films.
The first reel begins with the title: Bantam Pack presents ‘Old Crocks and Crazy Bikes. This begins with a man doing some maintenance to his bike, and there are various old and crazy motorbikes and bicycles: from the penny farthing onwards. It seems to be a race with spectators, passing a sign for the A23 Brighton Horsham. There are more bizarre bicycles before the film ends.
Next is ‘Spills and Thrills’ which includes cars jumping over other cars and a bus, and through flame circles, and several crashes. Then there is film of horse riders falling off their horses at a cross country event in France, and the same at a jumping event in Australia. Nest is a rodeo and bull fighting in France. Then there is aqua-planning in Austria, kayaking, surfing on rowing boats in Australia, circus acrobats, a tightrope walker, an air circus with aeroplanes, and finishing with aeroplanes flying into houses. End title: Released through GB Equipment and Distributors of 16mm and 8mm. Movie Makers.
Up next in this film compilation are two films made by Walton Films, under the title of ‘Speed Crazy’. Firstly, "100 m.p.h. through the London Streets!’: a film showing a speeded up car journey from Whitehall, around Trafalgar Square and along the Strand. Secondly, ‘700 m.p.h. journey by Train", filmed from the drivers cab of a train travelling from London to Brighton. The train pulls up at Brighton Station; title: 'The End, A Walton Film Production.
The second reel begins with an excerpt from a Keystone Cops film, followed by ‘Charlie to the Rescue’, an excerpt from a Charlie Chaplin film, ‘The Vagabond’; a Laurel and Hardy film ‘Light Dress’, an excerpt from ‘With Love and Hisses’. Then there is a title: 'Mountain Films Present', ‘Charlie’s knock-out drop’, an excerpt from Charlie Chaplin’s ‘Easy Street’; followed by ‘Double Trouble’, a short excerpt from a Laurel and Hardy film.
