Title - Snow Wharncliffe March 1947
The opening shot of this film shows a man with a shovel and flat cap walking down a cleared path with large snow banks on either side of him. A group of people try to clear the snow from around an electric pylon, which looks as if it has been damaged by the extreme conditions. The next shot shows some of the men posing for the camera with their shovels in hand. The filmmaker then cuts to show the cleared pathways and a man who stands in a hole; from here, it is clear that the snow is many inches thick.
Electric cables which connect the pylons, are plastered with snow and ice, and many of the cables sag or appear to have been damaged.
The next sequence shows expansive views of the surrounding countryside and dense wooded areas, all of which are covered in snow. There are then further shots of the cleared path that runs in parallel to the electrical pylons. Several houses with snow topped roofs are then captured by the filmmaker, before cutting to a road sign which sticks out of the snow; it reads 'Dumford 1 ? Holmfirth 5'.
Cars and trucks have been abandoned on a snowy road. A man opens a trucks bonnet, and the engine is encased in a thick layer of snow.
The stock then switches to black and white, and there are a melange of shots showing the grounds of a grand estate which boats fountains, statues and opulently styles hedges. The filmmaker captures several views of the manors exterior and an array of close ups depict the engravings which adorn the walls. The film closes as a couple walks through a densely green and overgrown enclave.
Title - Westbrook production. The end.
