This amateur film was made by a Wakefield-based businessman and it contains footage of a gala parade that took place in Wakefield. The film opens with a shot of lots of floats parked behind each other in a field. There are lots of people on the floats as well as milling about on the ground, preparing for the parade. In the following section crowds of people line a street as a marching band and then the numerous floats make their way along. There floats are all decorated and are full of people and many of them have small scenes taking place on them. Some of them have also been made to look like: a boat, the inside of a house, sea animals and a shop window. Most of the floats are promoting different companies and shops.
There are shots from a balcony over-looking the street where the Wilkinson family are watching the parade. As another group of floats drive past, it is possible to see many more colourful and imaginative scenes built onto other floats.
