Title - the deputy's pre-shift inspection and Report on the 60's
Through narration a new deputy of a coal mine is shown filling in a report card at the end of his shift. On the card he identifies the safety issues he has found and corrected on his tour of the coal pit.
He is shown to set off into the pit from the start, first he walks along half a mile of conveyor belt to look for fire hazards. He then examines the First Aid kits; he checks that all the right products are present and correct. Moving onto the support props he measures that they are in the correct position and are not too far spread apart. Exploring the roof rafters of the pit using a special lantern, he checks that there has been no build-up of dangerous gases. Following a fault line he measures and marks that it has not increased or moved. Checking all the material he notes down if any stock is missing, or if there is too much, and finally he walks the return path to check it is suitable for the miners and haulage to travel along.
After all the checks have been made and the report card has been handed in, he sets off home.
