On June 18th, 1942, a Founder's Day ceremony took place at Beverley Minster. It was attended by the Lord Mayor, members of the clergy, army cadets and scouts. Members of the local community were also in attendance. The film was made by Ernest Symmons who owned the Beverley Playhouse Cinema. He filmed local events for newsreels which he would show before a main feature. Title - Founders Day Beverley Grammar School June 18 1942 Outside the city centre, a parade of teenage Army Cadets and Scouts in uniform is led by a brass band. The Beverley Minster can be seen in the distance. Outside the school a number of boys and school masters stand as the parade passes. The parade arrives at the Minster where the Lord Mayor gives a speech; the band then stand in front of him and play. Before entering the church, the Cadets and Scouts line up outside the Minster for inspection. They are followed by the clergy and dignitaries. Title - The End of this Week's Playhouse News
