Title - Building a Strip Pack
Miners are shown in the coal pit working. An illustration is given with narration to explain how strip packs are built and why they need to be built in a mine. Two types of strip packs are identified. Still using illustration, a step by step guide is given to show how to build a strip pack.
In a mine, two men prepare to build a strip pack. The narrator explains what they are doing as they check that the area is secure. In a training centre a miner demonstrates how they should be done by first choosing the correct support stones. Watching two apprentices, he checks that they are building it right. Images of brick builders are shown to demonstrate how the stones should be laid, not over lapping the joins.
Back to the mine, two professional pack builders build their pack as the narrator guides the viewer through what they are doing.
In the training centre the men finish building their pack, so it is inspected. Mistakes are pointed out and soon corrected.
In the mine the pack is finished being built too, so they pull the temporary pole support away because the pack can now take the full weight.
