This brief film is part of a collection that records a family from York's trips to the coast and countryside around North Yorkshire. The films were all shot by the Lord Mayor of York's son and are a child's view of these days before World War Two.
The film opens with a shot taken from a height looking down onto the family garden in York which is covered with snow. Two children are in the garden looking at the camera. A young girl walks across a small path; she stops and stares at the camera.
The next scene opens with an iris effect; a man and woman and two children walk along a path flanked with bushes in the direction of the camera. The woman bends down to pick flowers.
The next scene is in the garden and a young boy appears dressed in a sheet, with a fake moustache and a cap on his head. He runs around in a circle and hides behind a deck chair. There is a shot taken from another angle which sees the boy sneak off in the opposite direction but not before tripping over a brush handle.
