The films were all shot by the Lord Mayor of York's son and are a child's view of these days before World War Two. This film shows two young girls swimming in Scarborough South Bay Pool. A man, most likely their father, squats at the side of the pool and shows them how to move their arms for the correct stroke when they are swimming. There are shots of various people, wearing their clothes, standing and sitting around the pool as well as the two girls who are now wrapped up in towels; they all smile at the camera. The last shot is of the two girls skipping ropes in the garden.
