There is an opening title which reads, Mrs. Beetons Hints on Preserving -- or -- In a Jam.
A man walks through a gate, into a house. Smoke can be seen coming out of the chimney on top of the house. An older woman answers the door and lets the man in. They the leave the house getting into a car parked in the street out front.
There are many views of the countryside as they make their journey. Both proceed to pick berries for the jam. A Shetland pony approaches the couple and they feed it some of the berries which they have picked. More views of the countryside can be seen as they make their way back to the house.
Once back home, the process of making jam continues in the kitchen. Meanwhile, at the Ivy House Inn, the berry pickers enjoy a drink at the pub with a few other patrons while work continues back home.
The film ends with a woman in the kitchen straining the jam through a cloth, and while doing so, drops the jam getting it all over the kitchen and herself in the process.
