Preparations are being made for the event. Some people are studying maps spread out on a car bonnet and others are jacking a car. Title - Zero hour draws near One of the cars is at the start line. Title - First man off The officials are making final checks and a car pulls out of the assembly area into the road. A large crowd of spectators are standing at the roadside. Title - 94 more to go More cars are setting off. The cars are parked in a field and marshals start each car at intervals. Announcements are made with the help of a van equipped with loudspeakers. Title - Bamford Clough This is an 'Observed Section'. A number of cars are seen attempting the climb, watched by spectators standing at the side of the track. Title - Old Lees The cars are having difficulty negotiating a bend on the course. An army truck and personnel are there to assist with radio communications. Title - Greenhope This is another Observed Section over open country. Several cars fail to make progress and must reverse down the course. Title - Pindale A number of cars are waiting for their turn on this section but one car needs the assistance of a breakdown truck provided by Sanders of Buxton. More cars are seen coming along a track between dry stone walls. Title - Cowlow This stage of the trial has attracted a large number of spectators and cars are parked on the road at the bottom of the hill. Some of the trial cars make good progress over the course but spectators are needed to help one that has got into difficulties.
