Title - A CB Film - Gala! - A Northern Phenomenon
The film opens with shots of the countryside, mountains, stream, waterfall, trees - and there are a few tents set up on a level plain in the mountains.
There is a sign reading Carleton Gala September 6.
The set up for the Gala begins as two men begin unloading things off the back of a truck, later moving them to the church yard. A tractor cuts the field, (making hay?) and the women of the church gather flowers mainly to be used on the Queen's float. Additionally, there is a tractor with a sign - Carleton Youth Collecting Cart - that is parked near the church yard.
Those processing in the Gala, including small children and adults, all of whom are in costume, gather in the town streets and wait for the procession to begin. An energy conscious entry to the procession - a float of two in a bath with a sign "Save Energy - Bath with a Friend."
The procession begins, led by a marching band, and makes it way through the town to the church yard where the fancy dress competition winners are awarded and the new Queen is crowned. Those attending the day's event can be seen at many different food and game stands as well as on different rides. There is a special tent set aside for food - mostly sweets and pastries - specially made by the women of the parish. Finally, the countryside around the church can be seen as the day comes to an end.
