Steve Galloway, the Liberal Party candidate in the forthcoming Parliamentary Elections, emerges from a meeting in Thornton Dale. He is preceded by other Party members and then drives off in his car. Two other candidates stand outside the main polling Station in Pickering. Later, other candidates and voters arrive, as does the High Sherriff of North Yorkshire.

On the 25th July 1979 a party is being held in the garden of Mrs Cousins in aid of mentally handicapped children. Those attending are sitting around tables in the front and rear gardens. The host, Edith Cousins, standing with other helpers, holds a tray of cups and sauces. Mrs Cousins is asked for how long she has been organising such fund raising parties. Two of the neighbours are helping out.
