Some last minute cleaning is being done to the traction machines parked in a field before the show. The commentary provides an explanation for several of the engines including a 1929 engine owned by E Thompson from Chester le Street. There are also steam rollers from the 1920s such as a 1910 Show tractor from Yeovil.
In the afternoon, spectators arrive for the start of the Grand Parade. 28 steam engines are listed in the programme. Among those on show is a Burrel Daphne Showmans engine of 1926, the last to be built by the company, a Sentinel S4 Steam Wagon of 1935, and a Foster 8hp engine from 1909. After a heavy rain, the ground appears to be too soft for the steam rollers. A parade of vintage tractors includes a three wheeler from 1945.
Some boys in the field play a game of 'musical chairs' during which participants use buckets for seats. During the game, traction engines circle around them. In the background there is a fairground. A sheepdog show features Mr Durrell and his dogs. To round off the entertainment, the York Youth Motorcycle Display Team give a display of formation and precision riding demonstrating various kinds of trick riding.
The next day there is a display of veteran cycles and motorbikes including a Levis 1927 belt driven bike. Outside the arena a helicopter takes someone on a trip over the area. The field is cleared of tractor engines to make way for an act by an escape artist. His trick involves an escape from handcuffs, leg irons, chains and a bag before an oncoming tractor engine can to run him over. He escapes just in time. At the fairground a couple of boys are at the firing range. There is also a parade of vintage cars which includes a 1958 Silver Cloud Rolls Royce. The film finishes with a tune from a fairground organ
