In this family film we look at Susan and Robert playing together at home and on outings to the beach at Sewerby. This footage shows how the brother and sister spent time with each other as children. Susan and Robert's family take day trips with Jean and Albert's family and we see Susan playing on the 'Garden Dipper' as well as Roberts 2nd Birthday. Susan and Robert are on a boat trip and Robert is being pushed in his pushchair. Susan walks along the docks with boats and buildings behind her as Robert watches the boats passing by. Robert and his mother are in the garden, she is holding him upright so that he can walk around the garden and play with the flowers. Inside the house Susan and Robert play games on the floor. They play with a doll and building blocks as well as a book titled 'My Picture Book of Trains'. Robert crawls around on the carpet as Susan plays with a horse puppet. Robert's mother gives him a bath. He sits in the basin splashing his legs and arms around in the water. Susan learns to knit. Robert is walked up the stairs by his mother and placed in his cot where a hot water container is placed at his feet. In the living room Robert climbs on the furniture and crawls on the floor as Susan plays with her doll by the window. The two of them play rolling around games on the carpet together. Robert tries to learn how to climb the stairs for himself. The family go for a walk together, Robert's mother is pushing him in his pushchair as Susan plays with a bouncy ball. The family walk along the path next to the sea and Robert watches Susan and his mother, playing ball. Outside the family play in the snow together and taking it in turns to push each other in the sledge. The family are at a fun fair and Susan's mother hands her money to go on the go-kart ride with Robert. Susan and her brother sit in the car together as she holds on to him. Susan makes sure that he gets off the ride and holds his hand as they walk back to their parents. On the beach Robert plays with a bucket and spade and tries to build sand castles. Robert also plays with a ball and Susan shows him how to play with bubbles. Robert and his mother sit on deck chairs and eat ice creams. Susan, Robert and their mother walk over green grass and come to a bridge where they look over and see lots of gold fish and coy fish. Robert is sitting in his high chair feeding himself. Susan stands behind him pulling faces and showing the gaps in her front teeth. At the beach Susan plays with Robert in the water, holding his hand at all times. Their mother wraps them in towels and puts their clean clothes on for them. The family walk along the path together amongst the crowds and Susan buys two ice creams and passes one to Robert. Susan rides her bike out of the garden and down the road. Susan and Robert and their family are on a trip with Jean and Albert and their family. They walk through many streets and passed lots of buildings. The two families enjoy a picnic together. Albert walks with all the children hand in hand through the flower lined paths to the park. Each of the children takes it in turns on the swings being pushed by Albert. As they walk they pass a river and walk along over the bridge. The families sit by the car eating their picnic and watch boats go by on the river. Robert goes on a fair ground ride inside toy cars and Susan plays on the swing. Susan and Robert take a trip on the go-kart fair ground ride and Susan makes sure that Robert follows her after the ride. Susan plays on a swing, which is attached to a tree in the garden. A man then sits her on a large ride in the garden known as the 'Garden Dipper', which seems to be home made. Susan sits on a box that has wheels on and it slides over the wavy tracks. Robert and Susan sit down in the garden for some food together. Robert stands by the window next to his Birthday cards as Susan goes up to him to give him a hug.
