Title - A year in Walkington 1974.
The film opens with Christmas lights lit up across a river at night (A Merry Christmas). Families crowd around a Christmas display and traction engine, and there is a Christmas tree with lights in the town square. A man dressed as Father Christmas talks to the families and children.
In the front garden children pull a go-cart along as a man and a woman come out of the house. The children push each other in the go-cart down the road as their parents walk with them (Waudby Close). The man and woman walk alongside the duck pond then cross the road and walk down the street.
Ferguson Fawsitt Arms - The family gather with crowds to watch the Morris dancers perform as two men play the accordion. Two children are dressed up. One is wearing a suit and hat while the other is wearing a flowery coat and horses head. The Morris Dancers continue their performance in the beer garden where drinks are laid out on the tables.
In the park the trees and swings blow in the wind. The two boys run underneath the slide and onto the field. They are wearing football shirts and shorts, and one of the boys ties his shoelace. More boys in football kits run onto the playing field. A boy kicks the football towards the goal wear the goalkeeper reaches to save the ball. The referee walks on to the pitch to begin the football match. People stand around the outside of the pitch watching the football game. After the match the two boys walk down the path towards the houses and through an alleyway. One of the boys kneels down in front of his house to take off his football boots.
There are trees with no leaves situated in the countryside. A woman and man carry long branches and open a gate to the woods. In the woods a man and a boy pick up more branches. They drag the long branches through a ploughed field, and walking through an alleyway, they pile up the branches before the branches are cut into smaller pieces.
Tulips and daffodils grow in the family garden. Daffodils grow next to the duck pond.
Sign - Local Arts and Crafts Exhibition at the village hall on Now! Sunday and Monday, Admission 50p all welcome
Inside the village hall, a woman shows the children where to put the items on the stall. Many paintings hang on the walls, and they were created by people with varying talents and ages. A woman arranges toys on a stall as another woman puts art work on the walls.
Daffodils grow at the side of the road. A man stands outside a large house, and a horse lies in a field. Tulips and daffodils are arranged in a display in the church yard. Blossoms grow on the trees. A woman walks down the road, and there are people who dig around the flowerbeds near the trees. A man mows the lawn in the church yard. There are daffodils which are laid on the graves (In loving memory of Gertrude Richmond Died 31st January 1973 Aged 70 years loved and remembered always). A woman digs in the garden flowerbeds.
A woman in a red dress walks down the road to pick up a child that has fallen over. Two girls in their mother's clothes walk down the street. A man in red trousers mows the lawn outside a house. A man sits in the garden at a table reading with headphones on. A man and woman walk a dog down the street, and a woman wearing a pink dress and yellow hat walk out of a house.
