This film shows the family trip to Trossachs in Scotland National Park in 1955. The family take part in many activities such as boating on the lakes, walks in the countryside, trips to waterfalls and fishing.
The film opens with the mother and two sons who stand by a stone wall and eat from a picnic basket. Two men walk towards a stone hotel with turrets. The father, mother and sons sit in a boat on the lake, looking at the mountains and woodlands surrounding them. Rowing on the lake the family see the stone hotel with turrets on the land. The two boys row to shore in their own rowing boat. They moor their boat on land, walk off into the woodland, and then return to the boat. Mountains and woodland surround the lake. The two brothers climb along a fence in the water to get into the boat moored at the end of the fence. Various hotels and buildings are situated in the woodlands and hills surrounding the lake. The mother stands on a path next to a rocky waterfall. On the lake, the brothers fish from a boat, and several cars can be seen driving past the lake. A boat is moored next to the lake. Dressed in trousers and jackets, the boys stand on rocks at the bottom of the waterfall. A boy walks across the field, putting a pair of binoculars around his neck as he heads towards the lake. Included in the film are views of the lake from up the hill. A steam boat sails across the lake with passengers on the top deck, and there are waterfalls in the woods. The steam boat sails across the lake towards the land. The brothers row a boat along the river to the riverbank where their father meets them to help pack up their fishing equipment. Passengers begin to board the steamboat by walking along the jetty, and once they are aboard, the steamboat pulls away from the jetty and out onto the lake. Clouds and mist surround the mountains by the lake, and once the steamboat moors at the jetty, one of the boys takes a photograph. The family ride on the steam boat across the lake where more of the mountains and trees are seen. Colourful flowers are in the park garden flower beds. There is a lock at the mouth of the lake and a brick bridge with green railings over the river. Reflections of the sky, mountains and trees can be seen on the surface of the river, and there are houses which line the road in the village. A boy leans over the bridge above the river and waterfall. Several cars are driven down a winding road on the mountains lined with rows of boxes (beehives?). Stones line the river as the water flows from the dam, and the boy walks around the dam site looking through his binoculars. Cows graze in the fields near the lake. The brothers fish in the river as the mother looks down at the river from the top of the stone bridge. A white building and a church are situated at the side of the lake, and the film closes with images of a stone castle or abbey ruins.
