This film shows the family at their home as well as during their leisure travels. The family take part in various activities including playing with the dogs in the garden and by the river, visiting a farm, walks in the countryside, beach trips, swimming in the outdoor pool, and a boat trip to an island off the coast.
The film opens with a dog that chasses a car as it drives along the road. Pigs can be seen inside a barn, and two brothers play with a dog in the garden. One of the boys jumps over the fence into the next field and the dog jumps backwards and forwards between the two fields. Bear trees line the river with a brick bridge across it. The two brothers stand at the edge of the river and throw sticks in for the dog to fetch, and there is a brick farmhouse surrounded by a stone wall. Behind the cottage is an open field with grazing cattle. One of the boys walks across the field with the dog carrying a bunch of mistletoe. The two brothers and another boy stand at the edge of a stream wearing kilts. The boys walk up the slope together and climb over the stone wall to the car on the other side. The three boys walk over a suspended bridge over the river. The children play games on the hills and open farmland. The mother walks through the farm gates carrying a tray filled with a pot of tea and saucers. In the farm yard and surrounding fields are many animals including pigs, cattle. In the stable yard a girl is saddling up a horse to be ridden. This is followed by exterior shots of church building, countryside and hills. Residential houses surround the village church and graveyard. The river runs through the village and underneath a brick bridge. In a bedroom the mother lays in her bed, smoking a cigarette and drinking a cup of tea from the nightstand.
Woodland surrounds the country houses. The father drives the car across the field (HWT 225). Castle or abbey ruins and graveyard. The mother looks through a set of black iron gates at the church building. She then looks around the ruins and at the stone monument. The mother, father, daughter and two sons walk along the windy beach. The father stands at the water's edge as one of the sons runs out of the sea in his swimming costume. The two boys splash about in the sea. The mother gives the boys towels to dry themselves off before getting dressed. The boys run up and down the beach racing each other. Three boys climb over rocks by the sea and walk along the docks. The boys walk towards a stone castle ruin. From the castle an island off shore is seen with a lighthouse on the edge. The three boys run along a wooden bridge and down the bank to the river. The three boys and a man stand around a well and look into it. They walk around the castle ruins.
Near the sea front is an outdoor swimming pool. The three boys run up the steps together past the swimming pool. The harbour and bay are seen from the docks, and a fishing boat sails out to sea. The two brothers and their mother play golf on the green. One of the sons, carrying swimming towels, walks across the rocky beach. The boys go down the slide at the outdoor swimming pool. The children swim in the pool. The two brothers play on the beach with wind-up toy cars.
The family ride on a speedboat trip from the main land to the island out at sea with the lighthouse. Different varieties of birds fly around the cliffs of the island. From the boat the family look up at the lighthouse perched on the cliffs of the island. When sailing away from the island, the speedboat passes sailing boats on the bay. Down by the water's edge, a woman and two children play in the water. A man and woman walk with the two brothers past the beach, and on the beach there are people racing horses and people sitting around rock pools. The children and the man change into swimming costumes and play in the rock pools and in the sea. The three boys build sand castles next to the water's edge while the man swims out at sea, and the two women lean against the rocks smoking cigarettes. The film closes with the children and the man running around the beach together and walking over the rock pools. In the rock pools are various crabs and wild life.
