The film opens with a woman at a sewing machine; she is sewing tartan material. There are shots of the other women also on sewing machines; beside one of the women is a clothing pattern. Shot of a clothing design mannequin; the woman brings over a half-finished tartan coat and puts it onto the mannequin. She makes sure that it fits the shape and size correctly. A man in overalls is bent over a car engine. He cleans sections of the engine with a rag and then fits a piece of metal into the engine with several metal rods. In the final shot the stripped down car is being raised up over a pit and a young man is in the pit working on the underside of the car.
