The film begins with a shot of a greenhouse in Castleford Park. Two children walk around the park on a sunny day. Different views of the park can be seen. The two children climb a hill which overlooks the park and the city. The filmmaker captures views from atop the hill.
The next scene opens with a shot of Barclays Bank and the town centre with the shops. A small factory is being constructed and buses move away from the main street. There is a bakery on the corner. The streets are fairly quiet, mainly cyclists. A van goes by for the Smith's snack food company. One section of road has been closed off for road works. A sign for the Borough of Castleford gives details of a new shopping development from the new Bus Station to Welbeck Street, to commence in 1963. The narration explains that the new Bus Station will be on Albion Street at the top of Wilson Street. Workers are doing work to the roads and houses are being demolished. Buses are shown on Albion Street.
The film shows the Town Hall in Castleford opposite a small shop called 'Woods' sandwiched between terraced houses. In the town centre a buses pass the Gas Showrooms and an old cinema. A long queue of people get on a bus bound for Wakefield. On Commercial Street is 'Hagenbach's' Shop and a long line of buses. A motorcyclist and pillion go past. Three single deck buses or coaches are parked at the new Bus Station. People are gathered here and the Mayor, Councillor Jack Smart, and other local dignitaries, arrive for the Opening Ceremony. The Mayor gives a speech and unveils the plaque. The Mayoress receives a bouquet of flowers. As people leave the film takes a look in the shop window of 'Woodhouse' Store. The film finishes up again at Barclays Bank.
