Title - Leeds city police annual inspection 1957.
A group of constables in uniform stand on a field in a park. There are then shots of a club house taken from a distance, where people are starting to gather. The next shows a line of police vehicles including motorbikes, police vans and squad cars, which have been positioned in a long line across the field.
A procession of marching constables moves round the edge of the field, led by a marching band. The constables then form a long line, which stretches nearly the entire length of the field. Senior officials then walk past the camera; the first includes a high ranking police official, and he is quickly followed by important local delegates. The senior officials walk out into the middle of the field, meeting up with several high ranking constables, before pressing on to inspect the various rows of constables; the high ranking officials file through the ranks, occasionally stopping to talk to some of the men, while the brass band plays.
More shots show the senior officials moving along the ranks, before talking to some constables on horseback. The dignitaries then inspect some of the police vehicles, moving down a long line of squad cars, before there is a close up of a German Sheppard. The Calvary unit then trot out of the green, as the several organised rows policeman march past with the principal officer saluting.
The filmmaker continues to film the inspection, using an elevated position to accentuate the impressive display of mass synchronisation, as the constable move into several different formations. The marching band, again led by the procession of constables, moves past the camera once more. After the male police units have passed, female officer then march past the camera, followed by officers on horseback, canine units and squads car which drive past the camera.
